In Canada/U.S., home and community care services help people to receive care at home, rather than in a hospital or long-term care facility, and to live as independently as possible in the community. Home and community care is delivered by non-regulated workers, regulated health care professionals (e.g., nurses), volunteers, friends and family members (family caregivers). Most home and community care services are government sponsored through partnerships with community home care agencies. Families can also hire independent home workers to provide home care and personal support for themselves or family members.
